“Evidences of a Revived Church”
America needs a heaven sent and earth shaking revival. Our prayer should not only be, “God bless America”, but also , “God save America”! The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
The Bible tells the characteristics of a church that has experienced
real revival. Acts 2: 41 -47 states:
v. 41 : “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the
same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
v. 42: And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and
fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
v. 43: And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were
done by the apostles.
v. 44: And all that believed were together, and had all things in
common;
v. 45: And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men,
as every man had need.
v. 46: And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and
breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and
singleness of heart,
v. 47: Praising God, and having favor with all people. And the Lord
added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
In these few verses, the Word of God gives seven specific
characteristics of a church that is experiencing or has experienced
revival. These characteristics are as follows:
I. The church is a saved church. (Acts 2:41)
II. The church is a praying church. (Acts 2:42)
III. The church is a miraculous church. (Acts 2:43)
IV. The church is a giving church. (Acts 2:44-45)
V. The church is a unified church. (Acts 2: 46)
VI. The church is a praising church. (Acts 2:47)
VII. The church is a growing church. (Acts 2:47)
May our desire be the same. As David said in Psalm 85:6, “Will Thou not
revive us again that Thy people may rejoice in Thee.”
